A joke will
be on the Mets this April Fool’s Day, as the Cardinals open before the
world, hoping to start the way last year’s playoffs ended.
After a successful spring training, 11-6-3, Cardinals appear to have just as much potential as last year’s team.
One
remaining major problem- inconsistent playing level- needs to be
eliminated in order for the Cardinals to avoid costly losing streaks.
"Last
year’s losing streaks almost made us miss the playoffs. They need to
focus on getting on track once they start losing, so that doesn’t
happen again," said Matt McWay (10).
Kip
Wells, pitcher and Adam Kennedt, second baseman join the World Series
winning team, creating new hopes and potential for the Cardinals.
"The Cardinals picked up a lot of solid players during the off-season. These new additions should help out a lot," said
Nick Jung (11).
Key
departures include pitchers Jeff Suppan, MVP of the NLCS, to the
Milwaukee Brewers, Jeff Weaver, pitcher, to the Seattle Mariners, and
Ronnie Belliard , second basemen.
The Cards are
relatively close to last season, and with hard work, hopefully by the
end of the season they can pull off another World Series championship.
