However, a sense of fairness endured with knowledge that their time for priority would arrive.
Recent changes have rearranged the ‘pecking order.’ Now, buses drop off middle schoolers at Sperreng first, while high schoolers must wait.
This change occurred because Roxanna Dr., previously a bus route, is no longer accessible. Resident complaints about road wear led to a recent county road sign proclaiming: "No thru school buses."
Buses now travel on Sappington Rd., necessitating a change of school start times, since the altered bus routes require extra transportation time.
A five minute set-back caused confusion in the first week, but had only minor effects.
PA announcements released students the first three days, instead of the usual bell, annoying students who could not leave until as late as 2:40 pm.
Delays contributed to a feeling that the school day length had increased.
Most LHS students still arrive before the 7:30 start time, so by 2:35 pm they are left staring desperately at the clock, waiting for the final bell to ring.
Schedule changes also required after-school activities to compensate. Some teams delayed the start of practices, while others simply left athletes with less time to get ready.
These schedule differences cannot be amended, so students must adjust to changes, though they may seem unnecessary.
Difficulties will eventually subside, as they have already started to become routine by this third week.
