Indeed,
the French are here, delving into eye-opening and stimulating cultural
exchanges, such as this past Monday’s downtown field trip.
Over
20 LHS students and their families have participated in the French
Foreign Exchange program the past week (April 16-April 28). This first
portion of the program consisted of French students visiting Americans. [ More ]

No longer ignoring reality, teenage sex is a fact

Like bombs exploding daily, students are faced with graphic sexual
images on television, in movies and in music. Students have become
forced to either accept these messages as their own lifestyle, or
ignore them.
Every student has to come to realize that sex is a realistic factor
that is prominent in high school, but it is their own decision whether
or not to do it. In a National Youth Risk Behavior survey in 2005
conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services, 46.8% of high
school students have had sex.

Princi ‘pal’ of the year

Never before has an LHS principal been selected as Principal of the Year. This changed, however, when Dr. Ronald Helms,
head principal, was selected by the Missouri Assn. of Secondary School
Principals (MASSP). LHS teachers have been awarded as "teacher of the
year," but this is a first for a principal. [ More ]
